Services

Hodgson Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd
In the 1960s under C.B. Hodgson, Hodgson Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. was primarily engaged in bid/spec contracting work and, today, Hodgson Plumbing continues to do contract work, but to a lesser degree.

The focus now is service work-- on-call response to building owners and managers needing repairs, maintenance and installation of new plumbing and mechanical equipment fixtures.

We provide the following services:

   • Drain Cleaning
   • Gas
   • Heating
   • Plumbing

Our specialty is dealing with the plumbing in older buildings.

“When we hire a new journeyman plumber/gas fitter, we look for someone who has apprenticed in the installation of new systems. If he understands how the equipment is supposed to work, he will know how to fix it when it breaks,”

- Dave Hodgson
As with many industries, technology has had a huge impact on plumbing, heating, gas-fired systems, and associated microchip controls.

Today, professional plumbing firms have to be completely up-to-speed with these new systems, and also be fully cognizant of obsolete methods and materials uncovered daily in Vancouver’s aging buildings. These challenges will only grow as Vancouver continues its incredible growth in new construction and as old buildings get older.

Most of us take plumbing for granted, until it breaks. Not only do we take indoor plumbing for granted, but also outdoor plumbing--when crews rip up city streets to replace aging sewers, drivers have plenty of time to consider the importance of plumbing systems while they bake in the summer heat.

The plumbing industry in Vancouver continues to present a solid career opportunity to young people willing to pass on “glamour” careers. This career seeks ambitious, hard-working people who understand the necessity of this life-sustaining, not-so-visible component of modern life.

Hodgson Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. fits precisely into this picture. We provide the less-than-glamorous, more-than-necessary services that, for the past 100 years, have been helping Vancouver transition from one century to the next.
