Hodgson Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. is also a proud and long-time member of the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA). In 1905, Hodgson Plumbing was a member of the original MCA, and in 2005 it’s still supporting MCA-BC’s goals and ideals. MCA has evolved from an association that has had several names since its inception, and today operates with the same goals and mandates it started with in 1905.
Hodgson Plumbing pre-dates the formation of MCA by about nine years, when Knowdell & Hodgson began the company in 1896. Richard Charles (R.C.) Hodgson was a founding partner and, although records are scarce, we know he was listed as one of the original members of the first MCA. He was also active in Vancouver politics, Rotary Club, and Masons.
R.C.’s son, Jim (J.R. Hodgson), continued Hodgson Plumbing’s involvement in the Mechanical Contractors Association through the 1930s to the 1960s. His son Charles B. Hodgson took over the company in the early 60s and was very actively involved in MCA through the 1960s to the 1990s. C.B. Hodgson is still with us today, but suffers from Alzheimer’s; he lives in a care home in North Vancouver where he is well cared for and loved by his family.
Today, Hodgson Plumbing & Mechanical is owned and operated by C.B. Hodgson’s two sons, Dave and John. They place great value on the existence of the MCA as an important role for the plumbing/mechanical industry in British Columbia. Both Dave and John feel the MCA promotes professional standards for its members and provides a means for ethical, honest, and fair resolution of issues facing member contractors, municipalities and the construction industry as a whole.
